Who we are
This is the website of UTN1 (Unknown To No One), a pop/rock band from Baghdad. It is run on the band's behalf, and we are responsible for the personal data described in this notice.
Our approach
Iraq has no general data-protection law in force at the time of writing. We voluntarily follow the principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): we collect as little as we can, use it only for the purpose we state, keep it for a limited time, and protect it.
What we collect
When you visit the site
The site has no forms, no comments and no sign-ups. It sets no cookies for visitors and uses no outside analytics, advertising or tracking (the site counts its own visits: see "Visitor counts" below). It loads no scripts, fonts or trackers from other companies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as the network address, the page asked for and the time) for a limited period, to run and protect the service.
Visitor counts
To know which pages are read, the site counts page views itself, on its own server. It sets no cookie and runs no counting script in your browser. For each day it keeps only totals: how many times each page was viewed, in which of the site's languages, on which kind of device (phone, tablet or computer), and the name of the website a visitor came from (for example google.com), never the full link. It never stores your network (IP) address, your browser details or anything else that could identify you or tell two visitors apart. Robots and link previews are not counted, and neither are visitors whose browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. The daily totals are kept for 400 days, then deleted.
When you write to us by email
The site has no contact form. When you write to info@utn1.com or press@utn1.com, we receive what your email contains: your address, your name if your mail program shows it, and your message. We use it only to read and answer your message, for example about a booking or an interview.
Links to other services
The site links to the band's pages on Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X and the music streaming services. When you follow such a link, you leave this site, and that service's own privacy policy applies.
Videos
A video on this site is a picture until you press play. Only then does your browser load it from YouTube's privacy-enhanced service (youtube-nocookie.com), and YouTube's own privacy policy applies to that video. Until you press play, nothing is loaded from YouTube: the pictures are stored on our own server.
Staff accounts
The people who manage the site have their own accounts. For each account we store the name, work email address, role, a protected (hashed) password, the key used for two-step sign-in, and a log of the changes the account holder makes.
Cookies
The site sets one cookie, and only for staff: the session cookie of the admin area, set when a team member signs in and ended when they sign out or after a period of inactivity. Visitors get no cookie at all, not even for the visitor counts above, so we don't show a cookie banner.
How long we keep data
- Emails to info@utn1.com and press@utn1.com: deleted once they are no longer needed, and at the latest after 12 months, unless an agreement (such as a booking) needs them for longer.
- Visitor counts: daily totals with no personal data, deleted after 400 days.
- Staff accounts: while the person works with the band. The log of changes is kept for accountability.
- Backups of the site: kept for a limited time, so deleted data can remain in a backup for that long.
- Server logs kept by our hosting provider: for a limited period under the provider's own policy.
Who can see it
Only the band's team. Our hosting provider stores the site's data on our behalf and may process it outside Iraq. We don't share personal data with anyone else unless the law requires it, and we never sell it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- stop using it, or object to how we use it.
Write to info@utn1.com. We reply within 30 days. We may ask a simple question to confirm that the request is yours; we never ask for identity documents.
Visitors in the European Union
The band lives between Washington DC, Stockholm and Baghdad, and many of our listeners are in Europe. If you are in the European Union, the GDPR applies to the personal data we hold about you: you have the rights listed above, and you can also complain to the data protection authority of the country where you live (in Sweden, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY). We would be glad to hear from you first at info@utn1.com.
Security
We protect data with encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, two-step sign-in for staff, and separate databases for public and private information. No system is completely secure, so we keep the personal data we hold to a minimum.
Changes to this notice
If we change this notice, we will update this page and the date below.
